Teaching Is Like Broadcasting?

“I can see often, clearly in my head, a broadcasting booth, soundproof  in glass,  sitting at the head of a classroom. And on each student desk sits a radio, everyone tuned in to a different wavelength.”

Teaching is not learning. I know that well because I was one of those little radios almost all my life getting static in school. Of course I was just one of many ‘bad students.’

But listen to the Nobel physicist, Richard Feynman. He remembered a philosophy class in college when all he was hearing was “waga, waga, waga, waga…” when the professor called on him. He heard the question as more waga waga but answered: I wonder why I wonder why I wonder why I wonder… The professor was pleased.

Is there a lesson to be learned in this?
